Seki is a historic town in southern Gifu Prefecture that is famous around the world for its production of high-quality knives and blades. The small town in the middle of Japan was a center of sword making during the Muromachi era (1338-1573), with over 300 swordsmiths working in Seki, producing legendary swords, and earning the town the cool nickname, âThe City of Blades.âÂ
